Kason has added so much joy to our family this past year! It's really indescribable. Karen, Mom & I have had so many conversations repeating how happy he's made all of us. I have taken so many pics of the little guy this first year. I know it's in the thousands!! It's just so easy in this digital age!
One of my favorite pics of Kason:
I have so enjoyed each and every moment from being there at the hospital when Jay brought him out to the waiting area to show Kason off (Karen had Kason via C-section) to watching him roll over, to sitting up, crawling & he's been walking since 11 months old! My how time has flown!
It's been extra special being our boys are 18 & 21, to have a little one back in our lives. I have not taken it for granted one little bit. I've enjoyed each and every at milestone Kason has went through. One of my very cherished moments with him is rocking him and talking to him and he would just lay there and stare at me while sucking on his passy and would then drift off to sleep. It was so surreal & peaceful. I remember crying ever so softly because I just felt this incredible amount of love for this little baby boy who was not mine, but yet I felt this deep connection too. I guess this is because he is my sisters baby boy. Karen has always been there for me when my boys were babies (she was still in high school!) & toddlers and even now. So now I have this chance to be here for her and their baby boy. I would do anything for Kason Lane. I LOVE him so very much. I didn't think I had room in my heart to love another baby like I love Colby & Brandon, but I do. I love Kason if he were mine! I'm so thankful Karen & I are sisters & best friends because we get to share everything about Kason on a daily basis! Thank goodness for cell phones!
Kason had a wonderful Birthday party! It couldn't turned out better. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining but it wasn't too hot, 70's. Just perfect weather!
I showed up to Karen's around 12:45pm. (I had errands to run in Chiefland first, otherwise I would have been there earlier!) His party wasn't to start till 5:00pm which would begin with eating grilled hamburgers & hotdogs courtesy of Jay. Moma fixed home made potatoe salad & Granny Driggers fixed home made coleslaw. We also had chips too. We drank some good ole' sweet tea or we had water & soft drinks. Everything was delicious! Of course we had plenty of left overs except there wasn't any potatoe salad left! Go Moma!
It was then the BiG MoMeNt we had been waiting for....time for Kason to get his own cake!!!! We all stood there watching him while he carefully touched his cake & then looked at his Mom & Dad, as if to say, "Can I really do this or am I gonna get in trouble?"
Here's a pic of this moment:
